Two rounds in of the 2015 Pembrokeshire Karting Championship and Dan Thomas (Templeton) leads Carwyn Bowen (Efailwen) in the Lightweight standings by just 2 points. Carwyn took the initial lead after a solid first round at the outdoor Carew Karting circuit but lost ground to Dan as the competition moved indoors to West Wales Karting. In the Heavyweight standings, Chris Davies (Crymych) sits 4 points ahead of Brian Newton (Llansteffan) after a dominant race in Haverfordwest.
This year competitors only race against other drivers of similar weight to make the competition as fair as possible. Also new for 2015 is a brand new race format where drivers qualify for a good starting position in the short sprint race. The finishing result from this race is reversed and determines where they start for the longer feature race. Round 3 takes place Sunday May 31 when the championship returns to Carew Karting which now features an exciting new track layout. Round 4 takes place June 28 at West Wales Karting where the second fastest lap challenge of the year will take place. At these rounds, each driver has just one lap in the same kart to try and achieve the fastest lap. For more information and to register please visit www.pembrokeshirekarting.co.uk
