Round 6

Fantastic afternoon of racing at Round 6 of the Pembrokeshire Karting Championship. Despite returning after a long Summer break, it was widely believed to be some of the best racing we have seen at the indoor West Wales Karting circuit.
In the Lightweight division, Sam Joseph set the pace early on by claiming the initial pole and was able to convert this into four straight victories claiming maximum points. It wasn't a complete walk in the park however, as Stuart Davis was inches behind Sam for most of the event and at times, was able to make an overtaking move stick and lead the race until Sam was able retake the lead with some inspirational passes. Stuart was forced to settle for second and will have to wait a little longer for his maiden event win. William Samuel Dolbear rounded off the podium by a consistent performance and was never too far away from Sam and Stuart. Each race was full of both ambitious and exciting overtaking maneuvers from all drivers. We now head into the final round with Sam Joseph, Stuart Davis and Samuel Dolbear as the main title contenders for the Lightweight category.
Whilst there was far less overtaking action in the Heavyweight division, history was being made as Tess Howell, who has raced in the Lightweights all season, switched sides for this event and instantly made an impact by taking three straight wins with ease showing the boys how it is done. A third place in the feature race was enough to give Tess not only her first event win, but was also the first time a female driver has won a PKC event. Brian Newton recovered from a few early wobbles to claim second place whilst PKC Organiser Royston Badham finished third. Title contender Michael Lloyd Davies finished fourth and saw the points difference to Brian drop to only a handful of points ahead of the final round.
With her victory, Tess Howell also claimed the best female of the day award with Jess Holmes was the best rookie of the day.
Sam Joseph took victory in the 5th installment of our Fastest Lap Challenge and leads Stuart Davis going into the final round.
Organisers would like to thank West Wales Karting for hosting the final indoor PKC round of the season as all attention now focuses on the final round of this years Championship, which takes place at Carew Karting on October 16. It is still largely unclear who will win the majority of titles on offer and crucially, which drivers will win the exclusive VIP factory tour at a top F1 team?
