The PKC raced indoors for the first time this season yesterday at West Wales Karting for Round 2 of the season.
Congratulations to Adam Jones (New Hedges) who cruised to victory in the lightweight category after being unable to attend the opening round last month. Adam was in control throughout the event and was able to secure the overall win from Sam Joseph (Swansea) who put his struggles from Round 1 behind him to finish a strong second. 2015 Lightweight Champion Dan Thomas (Templeton), who also missed round 1 initially struggled for pace before finding his groove and dominating the feature race to allow him to finish third overall. Round 1 protagonists Stuart Davis (Milford Haven) and Sam Dolbear (Sageston) remain very much in the title hunt with some very competitive drives during the event.
In the Heavyweight category, congratulations are extended to Michael Davies (Carmarthen) who triumphed after a poor start to the season. Michael kept a cool head and drove a calculated yet quick event to finish first overall. Newcomer Rich Hooper (Llandybie) drove consistently and quickly and was rewarded with second place ahead of Gareth Lewis (Pembroke) who returned to the PKC after a six year absence. Despite being a little rusty, Gareth was quick off the mark and raced hard with the more seasoned regular drivers where his hard work and talent paid off with third overall.
Driver of the day awards go to Brian Newton (Llanybri) for best over 40's driver, Melany Howell (Deface Felindre) for best female and Rich Hooper for best rookie.
After a few disappointing events last year, Adam Jones was determined to showcase his talent and in addition to his race win, also set the quickest lap in the Fastest Lap Challenge.
Organisers would once again like to thank all competitors and spectators who attended the event along with all the staff at West Wales Karting who looked after everyone during the night.
The focus now shifts to Round 3 at Carew Karting on May 29.
