Brilliant night of racing at Round 2 of the 2017 Pembrokeshire Karting Championship! Congratulations to Adam Jones (Tenby) for winning the lightweight category and extending his lead in the standings and Michael Lloyd Davies (Cefneithin) who took a comfortable victory in the heavyweight division.
Racing with a very quick group of drivers, it didn't always look good for Jones as he found himself relegated to the B group for Race 2, but with 3 strong wins in the A group for his other races, he scored enough to earn the win ahead of Sam Joseph (Swansea) and William Samuel Dolbear (Sageston), who just edged the final podium place away from Colin Rowland Mason (Johnston). In the heavyweights Davies was on course for a clean sweep across the board, by qualifying on pole for all 4 races and winning the first 3, until race 4 where rookies Robert Maynard (Carmarthen) and Jason Francis (Cardigan) were able to relegate Davies into third in that race. Davies was never in any danger from losing the victory though and produced a healthy 20 point cushion during the event to second place Maynard, which was enough to leapfrog Maynard in the standings. Robert Maynard continues to lead the Rookie Table with Brian Newton (Llanybri) topping the Masters Table and Melany Howell (Drefach Felindre) ahead in the Ladies Table. We saw the second of our Fastest Lap Challenge events at round 2, with Adam Jones and Michael Davies both setting the same quickest lap at 25.480, but Sam Joseph still leads overall. A big thank you to West Wales Karting for hosting the event and all the marshals and stewards who did a fantastic job overseeing the action.
