2025 PKC RULES
GENERAL INFORMATION
1 PKC Eligibility
1.1
All competitors must be aged 14 or over to race in the PKC.
1.2
All competitors must sign-in and attend the event safety briefing at every round they compete in.
2 Cost
2.1
Each round of the PKC will cost £50 per competitor.
2.2
Competitors must pay the PKC entry fee of £20 on or prior to their first round. This can be done in cash on the day or online beforehand.
2.3
If competing for the Teams Cup, a £20 entry fee per team is payable on or prior to their first round. Paid in cash on the day or online beforehand.
3 Calendar
3.1
Held every second Sunday of the month from April to November 2025.

4 Venue
4.1
West Wales Karting in Haverfordwest will be the exclusive venue for the 2025 PKC.
5 Equipment
5.1
All race suits and helmets will be provided free of charge by the venue, although a small charge may apply for gloves and balaclavas.
5.2
Seat inserts are available at the venue and are issued on a first come, first served basis in the pits.
5.3
Competitors may use their own race attire and full face helmets, but must be approved by venue staff beforehand.
5.4
The karts used for the PKC will be the house fleet of the venue. The fleet will be benchmarked and thoroughly tested and checked before each PKC round to ensure they are as close as possible in performance.
6 Consent
6.1
By competing in the PKC, competitors give their consent for any photographs taken of them to be used online, or for marketing material by the PKC or venue. If competitors do not wish to have their photos used, they must notify the PKC organiser in writing.
7 Disclaimer
7.1
We reserve the right to alter or modify the event format, schedule or calendar during the season, however full disclosure will be made to competitors beforehand should this occur.
8 Safety
8.1
Track rules will be given during the mandatory safety briefings and will be enforced by track staff during each PKC event.
8.2
The PKC brings together competitors with varying levels of experience. As such, all competitors must be aware and respectful of slower drivers.
8.3
Competitors must display good racing etiquette. This means the venue will not tolerate dangerous or aggressive driving such as; turning in deliberately on an overtaking driver, deliberate contact with other drivers, gaining an unfair advantage and not conceding the place or any other form of driving that could be deemed unsafe.
8.4
West Wales Karting is a registered member of the National Karting Association (NKA) and have taken, under NKA guidance, reasonable precautions to ensure safety is maintained. Competitors are reminded that all forms of motorsport can be dangerous and by taking part in the PKC, you are present at your own risk.
9 Championship Categories & Trophies
9.1
All competitors will compete in the primary championship, split into one of our weight classes; Lightweights, Middleweights or Heavyweights.
Top 3 house trophies or medals will be awarded to each weight class at the end of each event.
Champions Trophies, Runners up and Third place trophies will be awarded to drivers in each weight class at the end of the season.
9.2
Competitors will also be automatically in the running for our secondary championships should they meet the following qualifying criteria:
Masters Cup: Competitors aged 40 or over.
Ladies Cup: Female competitors.
Rookie of the Year Cup: New drivers or those who have never finished in the primary championship top 5.
For 2025 the winners of each secondary championship trophy will be decided by a vote and announced at the end of the season. All competitors will have an opportunity to register a collective vote, with the venue owners and PKC Organiser each having one vote. Voting will be based on on-track performance, sportsmanship and attendance.
9.3
New for 2025 is the Teams Championship where teams of two from any weight class can win the Team Cup at the end of the season.
9.4
The following special event trophies will be available to win during the 2025 season:
Spring Cup: Awarded to the winning Lightweight, Middleweight & Heavyweight drivers at Round 2.
Fastest Lap Challenge: Awarded to the winner of our popular hot lap competition at Round 3.
Summer Cup: Awarded to the winning Lightweight, Middleweight & Heavyweight drivers at Round 5.
Autumn Cup: Awarded to the winning Lightweight, Middleweight & Heavyweight drivers at Round 7.
10 Prizes
10.1
In the Autumn, West Wales Karting hold their annual 500K Charity Challenge Event. The top drivers from Round 6 will be invited to race for 'Team PKC', although they will each still be required to raise sponsorship for the selected charity of the event.
10.2
The 2025 Champions of each weight class and Teams Cup will be invited to join us on our factory tour of a leading Formula 1 team in December. Further details will be provided to those persons closer to the time.
10.3
We reserve the right to add, amend or remove prizes at any time during the season.
11 Practice
11.1
Each PKC event will not incorporate a practice, however a dedicated non-mandatory practice event will be held on March 23 2025.
11.2
Competitors are encouraged to practice at their own discretion, although prior booking with West Wales Karting is advisable.
12 Penalties
12.1
Venue staff and marshals are trained to NKA standards. As such, any decision they make will be informed and final.
12.2
If a competitor commits an offence, they risk being deducted points from that event, or if severe, disqualification.
12.3
In the unlikely event of a kart failure not attributed to driver error, compensation points may be awarded but will be done so on a case by case basis.
EVENT INFORMATION
13 Event Timetable
13.1
15:30-16:00:
- Arrive at the circuit.
- A PKC representative will record your weight and give instructions on how to pay, sign in and wear to collect your race overalls.
16:00:
- Competitors arriving after this time will be unable to race.
- Mandatory track and PKC safety briefing for all competitors in the upstairs briefing room.
- Racing starts and takes place.
- Podium ceremony.
14 Racing Format
14.1
Every competitor will take part in 4x sprint races at 8 laps each and 1x feature race at 30 laps.
14.2
Grid positions for the sprint races will be determined by the timing system computer based on an average starting position i.e. somewhere near the front, middle and back of the grid.
14.3
Grid positions for the feature race will be a reverse grid determined by the total number of points earned in the sprint races i.e. the driver with the most points will start at the back of the grid and the driver with the least points will start on pole.
14.4
Competitors of each weight class will race separately from each other. The only exception to this rule will be where there are very low attendances. Should this happen the two smaller weight classes in attendance will be grouped together, but still scored independently from each other.
15 Weight
15.1
When being weighed, competitors do not need to wear or hold a race suit and helmet unless they are within 1kg of a weight threshold.
15.2
Weight limits will be declared for the season after the pre-season practice event on March 23 2025.
15.3
Only the official PKC scales will be used to determine weight. Should they fail, a backup scales will be used.
15.4
If a competitor fluctuates between a weight class during the season, they will only score points for the class they qualify for at each event.
16 Points & Scoring
16.1
Competitors will be able to score points in all races.
16.2
Sprint AND feature race point system: 1st: 12 points, 2nd: 11, 3rd: 10, - reducing by 1 all the way to 12th: 1.
16.3
Competitors will also be awarded 1x point for each position gained in their feature race. To avoid abuse, this does not mean total number of overtakes, rather the difference between their finishing position and starting position.
16.4
If a competitor does not to finish a race for any reason other than a mechanical failure, they will receive 0 points.
16.5
If competitors are tied on points at the end of an event or championship, the position will be awarded to the competitor with the faster lap in the event/championship. If still tied, it will go to the number of wins, seconds thirds etc... in the event/championship.
16.6
Teams - Each member of the team will have their individual points added together to give the team points for the event.
17 Cut-Through
17.1
During the feature race, a cut-through will be positioned on the back straight and will allow competitors to bypass the middle sector of the track.
17.2
Each competitor will have 1x cut-through to use during the feature race but not on the first or last lap.
17.3
By using the cut-through, competitors can gain track advantage and points associated with that position.
17.4
All lap times will not be counted or logged during the feature race.
17.5
Competitors must use the cut-through safely and responsibly or risk a penalty.
17.6
The venue reserves the right to withdraw the use of the cut-through during an event for safety concerns.
18 Reverse Track Layout
18.1
The reverse track layout will be used at random during the season but only if it is deemed that all competitors in attendance can race in a safe manner.
18.2
The venue reserves the right to withdraw the use of the reverse layout if the track conditions are deemed too wet and slippery.
19 Drop Round
19.1
There will be a drop round in 2025 which only applies to competitors who compete in every event. The drop round means only the competitors top 7 scoring events will count towards their final championship across all championships, allowing these competitors to either miss a round or gives them a chance to write off a bad result with no ramifications.
20 Power Round
20.1
Competitors will be asked to nominate a round during their registration where they receive double points at that chosen event.
20.2
Each competitors nominated power round is not revealed until after their nominated event.
20.3
The double points from the power round will be applied after the event and not during.
20.4
The double points from a power round will not change the outcome of an event. This means that a competitor can only get on the podium or win an event through their on-track performance.
20.5
Each team are able to nominate a team power round to the same rule as 20.4. Individual power round scores are also applied to the team.
