Our Fastest Lap Challenge was won by Sam Joseph. The 2010 and 2012 Champion has always been quick around the Carew circuit. This year was no exception with Sam not only setting his winning time at Round 1, but also smashed the track record in the process. Richard Francis was the quickest Heavyweight driver. Despite finding himself over the 84kg threshold, his consistent speed often saw him set quicker times than most of the lightweight drivers. This category was proudly sponsored by Smith & Jones Electrical Ltd.

Jeff Joseph of Business Finance Wales was delighted to present the Rookie of the Year trophy to Steven Roderick. Having missed the first round, Steven quietly laid the foundations throughout the season ready for the Round 5 showdown where he toppled Brian Newton from the top of the standings. Similarly, Dan Thomas missed the opening event, only to attack hard at the next rounds. Keen to impress, Dan won Round 3 and claimed a massive haul of points in the process. He fell just short by the final round and had to settle for second place. Brian Newton is proof that age is no barrier as he topped the standings most of the season, even claiming a podium at Round 2. A poor final round saw him fall to third overall.

Richard Francis entered the Pembrokeshire Karting Championship in the hope of finishing well in the Heavyweight Standings. It became clear as the season progressed that he stood a very good chance of claiming the silverware by showing promising speed and dedication. His commitment paid off as he took the lead at Round 4 and maintained his momentum throughout Round 5. Liam Hunter had a strong start to the year. No stranger to motorsport, Liam knew what he needed to do to claim the ultimate prize. Often showing no fear of overtaking fellow drivers, Liam was able to produce consistent results. A poor Round 4 saw Liam fall to second where he stayed, although his talent ensured that he would remain a strong contender for the title to the very end. Michael Davies had a quiet start to his 2013 campaign but quickly found his feet and produced very consistent results, that allowed him to keep his main rivals honest. Despite falling short at the end and finishing third, Michael has proven that he has what it takes to move up the podium. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo were the sponsors of this category
